Why Exposed-Fastener Roofing Can Cost Less Than Standing Seam

Exposed-fastener systems can generally be installed for less than premium standing seam because they may involve simpler panel attachment, fewer concealed clip components, more standardized profiles, less specialized seaming equipment, and simpler trim on straightforward structures.

Roof geometry, access, tear-off, flashing, penetrations, deck condition, ventilation, and other project requirements can still make an exposed-fastener project expensive. Project-specific pricing is required; panel price alone is not the price of a complete roof.

The Fasteners Matter

Exposed screws and sealing washers are part of the roof’s waterproofing system. Correct seating and installation are important.

Steel roof panels are noncombustible material, but whole-building wildfire resilience also involves roof edges, ventilation, gaps and openings, siding interfaces, gutters, debris, decks, and surrounding combustible materials.
